#1. COVER THE BASICS. DO SOMETHING TO PAY THE BILLS
“It is better to get your hands dirty and eat, than be too proud to work – and starve”. ~ Ancient Proverb
Always have a bread and butter plan. I worked on a farm, in a sawmill, in a service station, on road construction, on the railroad, taught school, built fences, you name it, but never missed a day of work or bringing home an income. Our kids have have done the same.
They made it happen themselves. There is no free lunch. It doesn’t have to be pretty or easy. It just has to pay the bills and follow these 5 steps!
#2. TAKE YOUR FINANCIAL DESTINY INTO YOUR OWN HANDS. NOW. PAY YOURSELF FIRST.
Pay yourself first. We always pay the bank, the hydro, our credit cards, our car payment, our mortgage or our rent, but seldom do we write a check or transfer funds into an account named “me” or “ours”.
You should be paid be paid the same way everything else gets paid, right up front when your income comes in.
Teach your children to pay themselves 10 cents out of every dollar (save it) and to give another 10 cents away, they can spend the rest on whatever they want or need.
If they learn that lesson well enough and execute it for their entire life, they will be able to buy a home and be millionaires at age 55.
It’s not about how much you make, but what you do with what you make that makes the difference. I have seen people go through thousands of dollars from wills, winning a lottery and other chunks of money and end up with nothing: and others who never received these amounts of money, but who followed these principles thrive.
#3. SO, SAVE 10% and GIVE 10% and THRIVE. It’s all about principled living.
#4. FIND AN OPPORTUNITY that makes your heart sing.
#5. INVEST SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY AT FIRST AND MORE BOLDLY LATER.
Follow these principles and become financially free!
